There are so many people, especially in the Southeast where I live, who will say “Amen!” to my last post “Jesus is the Only Way” but will not live their life for Him. There are many reasons as to why this may happen but the two that I am sure about are that they either haven’t accepted Him as their Savior or they have, at one point, but are not living for Him now. Either of these are fairly easily remedied and I would like to take each one at a time.
The person who does not know Jesus as his or her personal savior need not dally around waiting for something that may never happen. If the Holy Spirit has revealed it to them that he is the only way then they need to act upon that revelation and accept him as their Savior. One of the sorriest excuses I have heard for not doing so is that the person is “waiting to get some things right” in their life before coming to Him. That is just a mechanism used to try to keep from doing what needs to be done. No one would ever be born again if everyone waited until “some things” are right, that will NEVER happen.
There are those who have come to know Jesus at some time in their life that also fit into the “lost” category. Just because a person knelt at an alter in the past doesn’t mean that they have it in the present. A sure sign that a person is born again is that the works they do fit the testimony. If a person does not live their life for Christ they are possibly in this category. The person who says they came to Him at one point I may ask them not only what He is doing in their life today but what they have done for Him today. The other question is “have you met with him today?” After all, it’s hard to do work for someone to whom you haven’t spoken. I am not saying that a person “loses” their salvation easily, God is faithful and will do everything within His power to keep those that have come to Him short of going against that person’s will. If a person cannot testify to a current, and by current I mean daily, walk with Christ they need to reexamine the status of their salvation by prayer and, in some cases, fasting.
Both cases are handled similarly. The person who has never been born again needs to come to Christ, repent of their sins and walk with Him. The person who cannot testify to a current walk with Christ needs to come to Him, repent and walk with Him. It is my prayer that someone who reads this will be checked to the point of desiring a relationship with Jesus Christ, the one who sacrificed everything for us. As the days go by there is never a better chance than right now to make sure that you are right with God.
