The Way, The Truth, The Life

“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

John 14:6 (NIV)

Our president has called for unity and peace in our country, this sounds great! Let’s have it, that is preferred. But, in the words of Jonathan Cahn, “how can we have unity and peace without God?” This is a valid question because we live in a nation that is not following Jesus anymore, therefore, we do not know “the way and the truth and the life.” Jesus’ way is unity and peace, the only path to those things, as a matter of fact.

Jesus also said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” John 14:27 (NIV). We have a problem of division in our country, not because of the Democrats or Republicans, but because we have strayed so far from the author of unity and peace. Jesus’ peace is one of the heart, he sent his spirit, the Holy Spirit, to be our comforter and guide. It doesn’t matter what we try, we will not have peace without his indwelling presence and the only way to have that is to accept Jesus, repent, and be born again; “Jesus replied, ‘Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again’” John 3:3 (NIV).

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

John 14:27 (NIV)

We can have unity and peace, but not as the world, or our president, gives it. Their unity is control and restricting freedom, God’s way is through the heart of the believer. The question we must ask today, “am I a believer?” Specifically, a believer in Jesus Christ, meaning a follower that has been born again.

It is wonderful that Jesus said, “do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” It is an encouragement that we need so much in these days, especially with the COVID-19 escalation and all that is going on with wars, etc. We can be at peace, no matter what, through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
